Vermonia
A multi-volume fantasy adventure manga. I provided the graphic design, lettering, and other design assets for marketing and promotion.
Occasionally I would be tasked with carefully editing the artist’s work either to clarify or correct for minor details. My goal was to remain faithful to the artist’s work and to have any alterations remain completely imperceptible on the finished page.
Here I altered the egg shape in the top middle panel to be more ovoid and added the transitional shapes going towards the Queen.
I provided the lettering for all speech bubbles many of which needed to be expanded or repositioned to fit the english translations. I would fix the halftone shading and as needed in the line-art. I also aided in story development and tracking the lore throughout the project.
This piece of unused art from volume one was digitally colored by me and given away as a limited-edition poster. Check out our facebook presence or YouTube presence for other examples of digital coloring.
The Vermonian Vault
An interactive Flash animation featuring easter eggs from the books. Puzzles were added as the books were released that rewarded attentive fans. Click on the image to see it live on www.vermonia.com.
The characters’ band logo “Veracity” was conceptualized by me. These graphics were used as part of a Flash-based game called Guardian Quest also available to play on vermonia.com. I created and modified many other graphics throughout the game.
Teaser collages utilizing unused art and pulling from other art assets. These appeared at the end of the first four volumes to promote the next book.
Black and white art by Saki Uchida, digitally colored by me and made 3-D stereoscopic.
